According to the 2015 census the total of sub-Saharan African population in the U.S. is estimated at 1,716,000. About 459,000 are from a French speaking country. We find the highest concentration of sub Saharan Africans in Texas, New York, California, Maryland, Massachusetts and Virginia. (1) (2)

Spending habits

Sub-Saharan African spend the majority of their incomes on food, hair care products and gardening. Then there are the kitchen appliances, car and finally clothing and perfumes. (5)


Trade

From 2016 to 2018 we have seen a continuous trade increase between the United States and the Sub-Saharan African countries, with export at 15,84 billions and import at 25,07 billions in 2018 (6)
